Emerging from the Depths of Academia

I spent the last four weeks mostly studying for my final MA exam in philosophy.

Today was the big day. A 45 minute long oral exam about classical political philosophy. Mainly Locke and Hume, but including short excursions into Machiavelli and Hobbes. Especially the Hume part was "hardcore". More contemporary contractarians like Rawls or Nozick could have come up, but luckily they didn't.

Professor: tough questioner but fair and perfectly nice. Based on my own personal experience I have to say that the rumors about him being a merciless student butcher seem highly exaggerated.

Does my brain feel like boiled pumpkin? Yes. But not half as bad as it did the evening when it came up with crazy little slogans like "Locke: Republicans' First Choice Since 1690" or "Hume: Premium Ethics Powered by Emotion".

Was all of this it worth it? Yes.

My result: 1,0; our German equivalent to the English/American A+

More when I've recovered *g*
