Not a real story, more like a loose collection of fragments which came to my mind while walking the spaniel.
ECHOES
- But do you think they are bad for us?
- Whom do you mean? The Kell or the Box people?
- The Box people of course. Everyone knows the Kell keep us happy.
(conversation between mother and son, held in a roof top)

The planet of Uma is very unique insofar that only its equatorial zones are inhabited by higher life forms. The people there abhor seasonal changes. There has been a long ethno-scientific debate whether they are fully sentient.
(excerpt from a school essay, Alevka Pertokyn, 10 cycles-old, Gelarre elementary school, Emrough, South Trion)
***
Happiness: State of physical and emotional satisfaction. Stable, eternal, always the same.
(definition taken from Encyclopedia Kelleria)
***
Woe us, who lay in the path of the long-coated Box man, for once upon a time all green was tranquil.
(Dawen Strangletree, storyteller)

- This is weird, this is really, really weird. Almost as if their language had no proper word for "Doctor". Could you please say my name, Rose? I just want to make sure the translator is working.
(The traveller to his companion, shortly before he brought on the great, terrible change)
I'm not sure whether the text makes any sense. Comments are welcome :-)
