It is utterly depressing and said for all of those reasons. I'm currently telling myself that I shouldn't idealize past fandom, I mean, I remember the Spike Wars etc., but still, currently there is so much hate and toxicness that I really limit myself on where I look for fannish reactions to anything I enjoy.
